Ramadan Iftar 2013 for 500 Needy Palestinian families (3500 persons): Hardship, Aged, Handicapped, Unemployed, Widows and orphans.

A Background of Palestinians in the current climate:

Palestinians have been uprooted from twenty cities and about four hundred villages; about seven hundred thousand Palestinians i.e. 66% of the residents of Palestine have become homeless; this represents the complete deterioration of the Palestinian society with all its components and bases; the daily suffering of the Palestinian people under occupation is very miserable in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Palestinians were frustrated that the occupation had lasted too long and because Palestine’s partners were refusing to try a different track to shake off this occupation.

Palestine is a very poor country, mainly as the result of neglect during the time it was ruled by Israel. Combined with the virtual constant state of war that has existed the economic growth has been very slow. There is virtually no industry in the territory and they have few resources. Right now Palestinians are is almost totally dependent on foreign aid to keep the people alive.

These days Palestinians are in a very bad economic situation, especially since the UN declaration of the Palestine state; Israel’s hostage of Palestinian Authority funds as leverage, which leads to the worst financial crisis in its history. Unemployment and poverty Rate in Palestine increased to 65 percent in 2013 compared to 70 percent for families headed by females. According to official statistics, the majority of the Palestinian families especially in the refugee camps classified as a hardship cases, who are unable to buy their daily food, and living on the very limited support from the UNRWA and Sadagat.
